In the game Canvas, you step into the role of an artist competing in an art contest. Players collect art cards, combining three of them to create their own unique paintings. Each card contains a piece of artwork and a set of icons used for scoring. Icons are revealed or hidden depending on how players choose to arrange their cards, creating an exciting puzzle. Paintings are scored based on a set of scoring cards that vary from game to game. Once a player has created and scored three paintings, the game ends.

On your turn, you can either take an art card or create a painting. Art cards are chosen from a row of cards in the middle of the play area. Each card has a cost associated with its position. When you choose an art card, you must pay its cost by placing an Inspiration Token on each card to the left of the chosen card. If you don’t have enough Inspiration Tokens, you cannot choose that card. All tokens on the chosen card are saved for future turns. The leftmost card costs no Inspiration Tokens to take.

If you have three or more art cards, you can choose to create a painting. Select 3 of your art cards, arrange them in any order, and then score them by comparing the visible icons on your painting with the scoring conditions.

When all players have created 3 paintings, the game ends.
